Developing a poster presentation

Poster presentations are increasingly popular at conferences. They used to be a tool for presenting scientific research, but other disciplines are now often including posters in their conferences.

The internet offers heaps of websites covering poster presentations. Before starting anything, read carefully the guidelines provided by whoever will show your poster, as conferences often have specific requirements.

The easiest way to make a poster is by using PowerPoint as a single oversized presentation slide. Make sure you use a large enough font size (nothing smaller than 18-20) – overall (30-32). Standard poster size are A1 (594mm X 841mm). For a larger poster us A0 (841mm X 1189mm)

A variety of software programs can be used to create posters including Adobe, Publisher, LaTex or Quark. Your choice should depend on availability of and familiarity with the software.
